Which Spare Parts Should You Buy for Ford Cars?

Any motorist, buying auto parts for his car probably faced a wide range of prices and names of companies that produce parts.

The fact is that the Ford carmaker itself does not produce the entire list of auto parts for its cars, and it orders some parts from other partner factories. This is done to reduce costs, because the production of some spare parts would require huge investments of funds and efforts in factory equipment, personnel, and it is profitable only with a huge number of products. Such plants are called “conveyor suppliers”. Spare parts from such manufacturers are as close as possible to the original ones.

When choosing Ford parts UK, you should focus on the list of official representatives of the auto-maker who manufacture high-quality spare parts according to the standards of the company.

There are also other companies that have the ability to make the same parts, but their products are not mass-produced for the auto-maker’s factories. Such auto parts are called non-original. There is a huge variation in quality and prices and it is necessary to specifically consider each manufacturer.

So, two questions arise:

  1. Why is the resource of the original spare part installed to replace the factory one significantly inferior to it?
  2. Why are cheap substitutes so cheap?

Why are factory parts so good?

In general, with the exception of initially unsuccessful designs, spare parts installed on vehicles from the plant have a significant resource reserve.

The car manufacturer is not interested in a large number of complaints about the car during the warranty period, because they should have a spare parts fund for delivery to official dealers, pay for these spare parts and services of replacement workers, and also, often, bear reputational costs. Rather harsh contracts are concluded with suppliers of components and assemblies.

Accordingly, related suppliers provide first class spare parts to car assembly lines. Parts that are shipped under large contracts are subject to enhanced quality control. Such parts include those that go into the “exchange fund” of spares supplied to dealers for warranty replacements.

Two less obvious factors are also of great importance:

  • Decent condition of adjacent units,
  • Qualified replacement work.

A number of parts are in close connection with each other, and while all the elements are new, the negative interaction between them is minimal. If an assembly unit does not have design flaws, its successful operation directly depends on the usefulness of the assembly units with which it is connected.

If some assembly unit does have a defect, a qualified replacement, according to the manufacturer’s technical card, may also have a significant resource.

How do non-original spare parts differ from the original ones?

Non-original spare parts are almost 100% better than the original only at a price. Situations where the price of a substitute is higher than the original, or the quality of the substitute is better than the original at a lower price are not common.

Despite the fact that everyone is well aware that the price of original spare parts includes a considerable surcharge for the brand, or rather, precisely because of this, it is often claimed that the quality of replacement parts is the same. And the price difference is, they say, only marketing. Unfortunately, in fact, there is a very significant difference.

Non-original spare parts may not have a resource at all. Or have a number of disadvantages that may affect the resource. Contract assembly-units are good when it is known exactly from the car with which mileage they were removed, still, it is often not exactly known even my disassemblers.

What is the result?

Everyone decides what to do – buy an expensive spare part 1 time, which is not inferior in quality to the factory, or purchase a part at a lower cost. Just remember that original spare parts from the factory have the largest resource, even taking into account “programmable aging”. Because they undergo special control, are installed in compliance with technical standards and are adjacent to the same new high-quality parts.
