Acute Problem of Car Recycling
When cars have served their time, they end up in a landfill. They are disassembled into parts, something is sent for recycling. Many components are recyclable: plastic, upholstery, spare parts, some cables. That is why there are companies that are willing to pay cash for cars. Still, if the part cannot be reused, it is crushed and melted down.
Car recycling
The scheme of modern car recycling includes the following stages:
- draining of fuel and lubricants on mobile installations;
- disassembly of vehicles with preliminary sorting by type of materials;
- shredding of unusable car parts at shredder plants;
- cleaning of dust and dirt, sorting and separation of non-metallic parts;
- briquetting of secondary materials.
Mandatory parts for dismantling:
- all operating fluids,
- rechargeable batteries,
- oil filters, fuel tanks, tires,
- catalytic converters,
- airbags and other pyrotechnics,
- lead weights for wheel balancing,
- components containing fluorocarbon hydrocarbons,
- certain components containing mercury and lead.
About 25% of the initial mass of the car is lost in total during operation. These losses are mainly due to the abrasion of rubber tires, corrosion of metals, as well as repeated replacements of some parts and components of the car, such as: battery (3-4 pcs. during operation), tires (about 16), oil and fuel filters, brake pads and some other parts, as well as the replacement of fuel and lubricants and technical fluids (oils, antifreeze, brake fluid, etc.). All these substances enter the environment and cause damage to it. That is why the process of recycling cars is very relevant now.
Due to the peculiarities of materials used in the automotive industry, a decommissioned car is a complex, dangerous waste. When looking for a contractor for the recycling of a car, it is worth choosing one that provides 2 important services at once, namely, paying cash for the car removal and an eco-friendly way to recycle an old car.
